Advantech Satellite Equipment Launches Its New Monitor-ClassTM Line of VSAT Tracking Systems Intended to Solve Limited Satellite Capacity by Ingeniously Opening Access
Advantech's new Monitor-ClassTM VSAT Tracking System Line Offers an Effective Solution to Limited Satellite Capacity
MONTREAL, QC, April 23, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Advantech Satellite EquipmentTM, a product division of Advantech Advanced Microwave Technologies Inc., a world-leading provider of wireless broadband communications, launches the Monitor-ClassTM its new line of low-cost inclined orbit tracking antennas for Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT).
Advantech's new Monitor-ClassTM VSAT Tracking System is an extremely cost-effective solution which benefits users, installers and operators alike, by enabling accurate, reliable and yet cost effective access to the inclined orbit satellites. It allows both existing and newly installed VSAT antennas to follow the path of inclined orbit satellites enabling receive-only or two-way communication with greatly reduced operational costs. Installation uses standard wall or king-post mounts and can be used with existing mounts and reflectors. This installer-friendly device also greatly simplifies VSAT/antenna installation and set-up as the antenna points itself at the desired satellite, avoiding the need for careful manual alignment. Once operating, it requires no user involvement and will continually track the satellite 24/7, as well as automatically recover from power outages.
In various regions worldwide, capacity on communications via satellites is at a premium with demand surpassing supply. This concern has been exuberated by the failure of recent satellite launches which were intended to boost capacity. Satellite operators are increasingly offering capacity on their older satellites, which are currently in an inclined orbit and unable to be targeted by standard fixed mount antennas.
'This system is extremely beneficial for antenna operators and users, as this technology re-opens markets that have run out of capacity and allows operators to revive out-of-commission satellites by creating the new revenues streams from previously retired satellites.'
- Gary Wade, Antenna Systems Product Manager
Advantech has over 25 years experience in designing and building inclined orbit tracking systems and has fitted antenna control systems on almost every antenna size up to 32M. Drawing on this experience the Monitor-ClassTM VSAT Tracking System uses a sophisticated repetitive monitoring algorithm (known as INTRAC- liteTM) and a simple two-axis antenna mount to enable inclined orbit tracking at VSAT antenna pricing expectations.
